Meet Sally
My Approach
Sharing your home with an animal can be a dream or a nightmare. Making sure your animal is well trained will give both of you more time to enjoy each other’s company. My modern training approach is full of fun techniques that will give you and your pet a happier life together. My motto being ‘Play is Training, Training is Play’ We play games in class, having fun whilst training and learning the skills we need everyday.
I believe having a clear set of boundaries is one thing, but being fierce is just not necessary. I don’t believe in choke collars, or that using a leash is the only way to teach an animal discipline. Dogs, and many other animals, are social animals, who enjoy love and family life. Let’s get them out of the dog house, give them more positive re-enforcement, and turn them into another family member.

Hi, I'm Sally
A dog trainer based in Wiltshire.
Anyone who knows me would probably describe me as the crazy dog lady — and I wouldn’t disagree!
I’m a proud owner of four dogs, ranging in size and breed, who have given me plenty of hands-on experience of the joys, challenges and rewards of life with dogs.
Pawsitive Steps was founded in 2020, born from my love of dogs and my passion for helping owners understand and train their pets. During the pandemic, being furloughed gave me the opportunity to take that passion further and turn my interest in dog training into something more formal.
Since establishing Pawsitive Steps, I’ve had the pleasure of helping many dogs and their owners, from puppy training and basic life skills through to personalised 1-to-1 training and behavioural support.
After taking some time away, I’m excited to be back with Pawsitive Steps, bringing a fresh approach while continuing to provide practical, positive and enjoyable training for dogs and their families.
Trained with the Institute of Modern Dog Training (IMDT), giving you confidence that you and your dog are in experienced and knowledgeable hands. My approach is based on modern, reward-based training methods that are effective, practical and supported by research and evidence.
I’m also a Level 1 Canine Hoopers Instructor, offering the opportunity for dogs and their owners to enjoy this fun, low-impact sport.
My aim is simple: to help you understand your dog, enjoy your training and build a happy, confident partnership that lasts.

Your confidence in me.
As your dog trainer, I am committed to keep my canine knowledge and training as up to date as possible. Trainers need to understand not only the mechanics of how dogs learn but their development and emotional responses.
